About

What we can do together

The goals of the Nurses Climate Challenge are to:

  • Mobilize nurses across the country to educate a total of 50,000 of their colleagues about the impacts of climate change on human health.

  • Build a national network of informed and more engaged health professionals in care settings.

  • Launch a movement of health professionals committed to climate solutions in care settings and in the community.

Everything you need to get started

Nurse Climate Champions receive access to a free, comprehensive set of easy-to-use resources that make educating their colleagues on climate and health simple. Nurse Climate Champions across the country will use these materials to host small or large educational events (e.g. at a staff meeting) and then report the number of health professionals they have educated. Together, as more nurses sign up and host events, we will get closer and closer to our goal of 50,000 health professionals who are prepared to take action.

Sponsoring organizations

The Nurses Climate Challenge is a collaboration between Health Care Without Harm and the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments. It is the first national campaign aiming to leverage the unique and trusted voice of nurses to motivate the health care sector to action.

Health Care Without Harm

Health Care Without Harm seeks to transform health care worldwide so it reduces its environmental footprint, becomes a community anchor for sustainability, and a leader in the global movement for environmental health and justice.

Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments

The Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments is the only national nursing organization focused on the intersection of health and the environments. Its mission is to promote healthy people and healthy environments by educating and leading the nursing profession, advancing research, incorporating evidence-based practice, and influencing policy.
